On days of bad weather these steps are taken in order to make sure the students safe:

At about 5:00 am Mr. T. talks with the road crew, Scott Lang (principal at BFA Fairfax) and the bus company manager.
After watching and listening to the school closing reports and reviewing the weather prediction for that day, Mr T. will make a decision as to what is safest for our school.
Usually if Fairfax closes we will close.
Using the automated call system Mr. T. can call every household with the news by 6:10 am. The system allows us to have delayed openings if the weather conditions are suppose to improve.
If Fletcher is closed but BFA Fairfax is open, Fletcher students will be excused from classes, but are encouraged to attend. Fletcher will provide no transportation.
If Fletcher delays opening BFA Fairfax students will be excused from early classes and students attending tyhe Tech Center in Essex will be bused to the Tech Center by a Fairfax bus when they arrive at BFA.
If there is a delayed opening there will be no morning Kindergarten.
If it is decided to move from a delayed opening to a school cancelation households will be contacted by automated call system.

Keep in mind that decisions on closing and delays are made with the best information that we have and that we try to get the word out to households as soon as possible. The safety of the students is our top priority.
