Breakfast/Lunch Programs
The Fletcher School
enjoys one of the best breakfast programs in the state. Breakfast is such
an important meal that we strive to have every youngster nutritionally prepared
for each school day.
We also have a fine
hot lunch program serving type A lunches, which means that they are
nutritionally balanced according to government specifications. This
program is only partially supported by government supplies; therefore, it is
necessary that we have your child’s lunches prepaid on a weekly basis. Please
use the envelopes provided by the Food Service Program.

School Meal Account Policy
The Fletcher School
District operates a school meals program on a debit basis. Therefore, a
parent/guardian of students participating in the program must prepay for
meals. A parent/guardian will be notified if they owe more than $25.00 on
a student’s meals account. Parents/guardians who may meet federal
eligibility guidelines for Free and Reduced meals are encouraged to
confidentially submit an application form available at the school at any time
during the school year.
Overdue Meal Accounts
If a student’s meals account becomes overdue, a parent/guardian will be
notified of the negative balance in writing and must deposit funds into their
child’s meals account as soon as possible. If a meals account reaches a
negative balance of $50.00, the parent/guardian will be contacted in writing by
the Business Manager. If the account is not paid, the Superintendent will
be notified and legal action may result.
Telephone
It is administratively difficult to allow free use of the telephone; therefore,
most messages will be relayed.
Children should not be calling home to make appointments to play or
visit. Please decide at home before your child comes to school where or
what he/she is to do after school. A note is required indicating the
after school arrangements.
Other than emergency situations we will not interrupt teachers during class
time to receive phone calls. We will take a message and the teacher will
call parents back as soon as possible.
The school does have an answering
machine if we are not available. Please feel free to leave a message if
your child will not be in school.
Website
Our address is www.fletcherelementary.org – we will post our school calendar and school policies as referred to in this handbook.
Student Surveys
In the event that the school plans to gather
personal student information for marketing purposes, or surveys students about
personal information, or plans to conduct “non-emergency invasive physical
examinations or screenings”, parents will be notified. Parents have the
right to decline permission for their child (ren) to participate [Federal
Statute 20U.S.C.d 1232 h (c) (2) (A) (ii)]
(PPRA)
PPRA affords parents and student who are 18 or emancipated minors ("eligible students") certain rights regarding our conduct of surveys, collection and use of information for marketing purposes, and certain physical exams. This policy is available fore review on the school website.
Lost and Found
There is a box located in the lobby to store found items. These sometimes
accumulate to overflowing. All shelves will be cleared periodically and
the items will be donated to charity.
We strongly encourage parents to label all items with the student’s names
and to check the lost and found shelves periodically.
Money and Valuables
Please do not send your child to school with extra money or anything of value
(such as expensive toys). The school will not be responsible for the loss
or damage. Any money for school related needs should be brought to school
in a properly labeled envelope and given to the classroom teacher.
Appropriate Dress
Please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the season.
This includes:
1. Sneakers for Physical Education class
2. Snow pants, hats, boots and gloves for cold weather recess.
3. Clothing which covers the child’s body during hot fall
or spring weather. While the school has no formal dress code, we
encourage
parents to select clothing which,
a. Allows students to sit on the floor
or play on the playground without exposing undergarments
b. Doesn’t expose midriffs or chests
c. Doesn’t reveal undergarments such as
bras and other undergarments
d. Doesn’t have graphics promoting
drugs or alcohol or which offend any race or ethnic group
